Jun is charismatic và generally kind, but he behaves so childishly throughout, running with the local Triad out of loneliness rather than need, driven by pride, expressing his affection through bullying, which works when you"re six but not when you"re sixteen, & ultimately breaking up with Qi Qi because he couldn"t handle her being more successful than him. Xiao Bo is a brilliant kid determinedly working his way out of poverty, forced into early maturity, particularly by the mental health issues of his mother. His complete care & concern for Qi Qi is not broken even when his own life plans are shattered by unfairness.

While I never enjoy a "break ties because I"ll drag you down/am not good enough for you" decision, given the legal issues Xiao Bo and Li were facing, this may be one occasion where I agree with the split. He wants above all for Qi Qi to lớn achieve brilliance & happiness, and thinks that won"t happen with him holding her back.The frame story sees Qi Qi returning ten years after the kết thúc of high school, và ends at a moment of potential reunion with either Jun or Xiao Bo - depending on reader choice as to lớn who gets lớn her first, I guess. Xiao Bo all the way for this one - particularly when his joyful memories of Qi Qi revolve around sitting together, both reading comfortably, and occasionally looking up khổng lồ smile at each other.
